My name is Sean Breen. I've been playing guitar for several years now and I've been a designer all my life. A few years ago I discovered my passion for luthiery and guitar design. I founded Breen Guitars to bring innovative, classically-inspired guitars to the music community.
My designs pick up where major manufactures have left off. Guitar design hasn't changed much in 50+ years. New companies innovate upon previous designs, changing them in little ways to make them their own. There are few unique designs outside of the standards.
What if Gibson where to introduce a new original design? Or Fender? What would it look like?
My interest in guitar design began in college while studying industrial design at the Shintaro Akatsu School of Design. My senior thesis was an electric guitar that was engineered towards being “green”. I chose to eliminate as many standard elements of plastic, rubber, and metal as possible. Instead of going super-futuristic in the theory of what could be, I built a prototype, known as the Phoenix, for today's player. The design bridges the gap between classic and modern guitar designs and innovates upon what is currently available to players.
A guitar should be as unique as the artists and the music they play. For instance, I am a tone seeker and so therefore my guitars are a reflection of self.
Welcome to Breen Guitars!
